The Realm of Minnie Evans

Shin Gallery in collaboration with the Outsider Art Fair was pleased to present a masterful body of work by Minnie Evans from The Daniel Collection. Self-taught at the age of 43, Evan’s paintings and drawings suggest a fantastical realm full of florals and mystical beings. Imagined by the artist’s visual manifestations, the exhibition highlights an unprecedented selection of museum-quality work collected over the past 20 years by Christian P. Daniel.

Paintings and drawings created entirely from wax crayons or oils depict repetitive motifs. Exotic human faces, spirits, and animals are engulfed in nature, whether flowers or intricate plants. Vibrant greens, pinks, blues, reds, and yellows consume the compositions via foliated patterns. The end result embodies a spiritual synergy, produced from the sub-conscious mind of Minnie Evans.
